Loose steering on JD 2130

Hello all,

I am working on a 1975 John Deere 2130 that has loose steering. I have completely rebuilt the front bell end and removed all play in that section. The long
drag link
is solid and is fine. The heavy drop down linkage just inside the housing near the clutch that has tapered splines which goes on the end of the power
steering shaft
and connects down to the main drag link is worn and you can see the main power steering shaft turns a bit before it engages the other side of the
splines on the heavy
link. This causes about 4" of play at the front tie rod ends. I have purchased the new heavy link and am wondering how to replace it. If you
remove the small round
hole cover and remove the bolt, is there enough room between the end of the power steering shaft and the housing with the small round cover
plate to pull the heavy
link back and slide it out and down? I am hoping it is but don't know. If so, it will be easy to replace and just slide the new one up and
in and secure it with the
bolt to remove all this play in the steering.

There was a post on here from a few years ago where CharlieMc said he replaced his on a 1530
but didn't mention how he did it. The tech manual does not mention how to
do it either. My tractor is up in the bush and I want to ensure I have the right tools to
tackle this before I head up to do it.

Thanks!

Jason
