Massey Ferguson 202 Power Steering Conversion

What is the best way to convert Massey Ferguson 202 tractor factory power steering to a different set up?

1. Had previously worked, now non-functioning
2. It does not appear to be pressure line assemblies(wheel cylinders)as neither leak fluid. However I understand that they work in tandem and blow by could be an issue without evidence of leaking from either cylinder.
3. If its the pump, replacement cost is $500 to $800 which I would consider if I knew that was the issue.
4. I have the parts manual and the diagram for the steering gear is intimidating. I have replaced some of the 0 rings with no improvement. Not sure how much more I want to take apart without some guidance. Not sure how available parts would be if I can identify the defective part or parts.
5. Before proceeding any attempt at repair I was wondering about a conversion such as to a Char-Lynn system.

Truthfully, I'm not that familiar with that system.

But I would be very doubtful that altering the system or guessing at what parts were needed would be an economical solution.

You have a parts manual, that's a start, now add a shop manual. That will have step by step diagnostics. You will need to invest in some pressure testing fittings, and a high pressure gauge. Even if you don't feel comfortable doing he work your self, you can at least have some knowledge under your belt to counter any incompetence/dishonesty of a hired technician.

There is another forum below for Massey Ferguson. Someone there may be able to help with that specific problem and model.

Let us know how it comes out!

Thank-you for the info.
Will look for a shop manual, the manual that came with the tractor is for a TO 35 which I understand is the same tractor but has a different power steering set up.
