Case DC opinions and help.

Hello everyone I am new to this forum and am looking for a little help. I recently purchased a Case dc. I believe the 1954 model. It has a foot clutch. Pto. Hydraulics. Eagle claw. Foot throttle. Basically all of the options based on my limited knowledge of this tractor. It did not run when I bought it however I have since got it running very well.

Now comes the problem. I'm not saying the guy knew it when he sold it to me but he certainly did not tell me about it, there is a very decent crack/hole at the bottom of one of the channels in the radiator. Tried the black pepper trick. Tried putting a little silicon on the outside plus the black pepper in the water and still no luck slowing it down. What is the best next step? Where can I get the radiator for a good price?

Lastly what is the thing worth? It runs very well. Could use front tires. Doesn't really leak anything. Needs some tlc around the gauges. And a choke cable. But it runs good and the sheet metal is pretty straight. I will try and post some pictures to help assess the value.

This is my first tractor so try not to be to harsh if I did something ignorant.

Thanks so much in advance

I used JB weld to fix mine The silicon might be a problem now because JB weld wont stick to it. You would have to clean it off to the point that you cant feel the slick silicon before you try JB weld plus this would require removing the radiator because other wise the JB weld will run off you will have to build a dam with light cardboard to prevent it from running thru the radiator.

Yes that is what I meant. Thanks you for the responses so far. I have yet to remove the radiator as I haven't figured out how to get the bolts out that are rusted in

Soldering with an acid core solder would be the preferred method of repairing if a repair is attempted. Soldering is considered permanent and a sound repair if the core is not overly rotten. Afterall many radiators are even soldered together during assembly (The DC is not soldered though as the upper and lower tanks bolt to the core).

Most any other type of repair is simply a band aide patch, that might last for a while of might let go anytime

The best solution would be to remove the radiator, take it to a radiator shop that deals with truck/heavy equipment radiators. They can assess the situation, determine if they can repair it or have to replace the core.

The shops tend favor costly permanent repairs so they won't have to do warranty work. If this is going to be a working tractor, I would go with their recommendation. But if it is going to have a sheltered life, they might try to solder it or block off the tube if you explain what it is for and agree to accept it with no warranty.

I sold this one to 01gentDC and few years ago for $600 after I took the rear tires off of it,if that helps you any with the value.

Down below there is a case forum there are a couple of guys there that sell parts and last I knew a radiator core was available. As others have said ye olde solder, Jb weld or a product call seal all. Also take it to a radiator shop if you are not skilled at that type of work.

Thank you for that info on the radiator and the prices. I was hoping with some of the options mine has it would add some value because honestly I have no idea.

I think the foot clutch and everything will help. A guy here restored an SC with a foot clutch and offered it to me for sale. He wanted $2500 for that one. I don't know if he ever got it or not. I've had two SCs and two DCs,but I'm not that big of a Case guy.

I just bought a DC core here on YT about a month ago, about $240,best price on the net ! fit perfect! Smack those rusty bolts with a hammer and soak with Kroil . we only broke 3 out of the 30, and those drilled right out , they are soft bolts ...

If possible could you go into a little more detail into what it takes to get the radiator out of the tractor and what it takes to install the new core into the radiator? Thanks alot
