Hi I'm replacing the front oil seal on
my WD. Do I need to remove the timing
cover or is there a way to pull the
seal out without removing the timing
cover? I've searched alot of this forum
as well as others and saw this question
asked but the other posts weren't very
clear on removing the timing cover or
not thanks.

The proper assembly procedure- using the alignment tool, the front cover seal bore is centered around the crankshaft, then the front cover is tightened in place, then the seal is driven into place with the other part of the tool.

Now, in the real world- sometimes you can drill three, or more tiny holes around the perimeter face of the seal, screw little metal screws into the holes, and pry the seal out against them. Also, you can check the centering of the front cover using tools most people have- drill bits. If you get the seal out without removing the cover, check around between the shaft and the seal bore with a drill bit that fits- should be the same all around. I have had to loosen a front cover on a C(smaller but the same) and pry it as far as I could one way to get the seal bore centered around the crank.
