Tire - valve came off

I have a 1962 Case 440 purchased about a month ago. One of the rear tires seemed low - when I tried to inflate it the valve came right off. Is there likely to be a tube in this tire? If so is it possible to replace a tube without specialized equipment. Thank you.

What size tire? Did the metal part just come out of the rubber? If that's what happened,I have shoved hem back in and put a small hose clamp on them to get by.

If it is from a tube it should have some tube attached to it. If it is a valve stem it should look like you tore a grommet in half. Stick an new stem in the hole from the outside.

The valve came out or do you mean the stem. If in fact the valve core and say where it went in is stripped out you can replace that pretty easy since it should have a part that screws out of the bigger part of the stem. If the stem came off then good chance you can replace a tube. That year of tractor is most likely to have a tube

If your VALVE STEM looks like any of these then purchase a new VALVE STEM ....and install.

The tire is 12.4 x 28 - Other writing includes Radar GK-111 Nylon Made in India. I can't find the stem - I was not looking when it fell (I think I might have heard it day away if that's possible). I poked in the hole left by the missing stem with a screw driver and I can feel a tube. So I will order a tube and hopefully take the wheel to a place equipped to replace it.

Other than the size, what do I have to know about the tube to order? Thank you

I would not order a tube. If the place you take it to is worth the time to take it to them they will have a tube on hand for it. It may even be cheaper in the long run to let them handle getting the tube since many places will charge more for the job if you supply the parts to do the job.
As for feeling for a tube that way you did if the stem came off it has been sucked down and deep into the tire

Having worked in a tire shop.....

If you have a tube that is still good. A tire shop that works on farm tractors will have a valve patch that can be glued across the hole where the stem broke off. This is presuming when you take the tube out it is fairly new. If you have scaly rust flakes adhered to the rubber inner tube the shop will tell you to buy another.
