My 2n is eating coils-front dist.-12v neg ground with the current ballast res. It ran a day ago for 3 hours.now today runs for maybe 10 min and starts bucking idle down, cools down after shut off and when started same thing. This is second new coil.

Sorry, I'm NOT a Ford man. Was it 6 or 12 volt original?? If it was 6 and now you use, 12 it takes MORE ballast resistance then original OR THE COIL WILL OVERHEAT AND HV BREAKDOWN CAN TAKE PLACE UNTIL IT COOLS OFF.

Ask the Ford forum gents

Are the coils 6 volt coils or 12 volt coils?? If 6 volt you need the factory ballast resister and also one like the VR-1 I get from O'Reilly's auto parts.

this 2n has run fine after i replaced the coil with a 12v from YT Tractors about 5 years ago and removed the wagner loader from it and ran fine till we tried mowing with it under a load at that time it had now power to even pull itself now after carb, point rotor cap and 2 coils plus exh/int manifold replacement this is how it runs do we have another coil bad?

Parts before trouble shooting is not a good thing to do because it can/will cause more problems then it will fix because you guessing as to what is wrong.
#1 did you set the points at 0.015 like they should be set??
#2 do you have a good blue/white spark tha twill jump a 1/4 inch gap at all 4 plug wires??
Do you have a good steady flow of gas form the carb drain plug that will fill a pint jar in less then 3 minutes??
Does choking it hurt or help??
When was the last time you serviced the air cleaner and dumped the mud and water out if it and fill it with new oil

yes to all your questions no we have not tried useing the choke yet but will monday

Thank you for your reply Art

Always happy to help if and when I can. My e-mail is also always open if you find you need more help or want a phone number so we can talk on the phone which some times helps more and I have done that many times over the years

ook elsewhere (fuel/carb) as I would wager any one of those coils is as good as the other.
