I have just inherited a Ford 600. Need a lot of info. First off it has been setting since 2009 and there is no battery installed. It has been converted to 12 volt because it has a alternator not generator. Right how I am going to to pick it up on June 6. Plan to winch it on to a trailer to bring to my house. Is there any thing special I need to prepare for? Thanks for any advise you can give.

One one like that since it has sat that long I like to fill the cylinders with ATF before hauling it that way it sit with ATF in the cylinders as it takes its ride home.
Since you say it is a 600 series then if it has a 4 speed it is a 640 model. If it has a 5 speed but non-live PTO it is a 650 model. If it has a 5 speed and live PTO it is the 660

(quoted from post at 12:04:17 05/31/16) Thanks for the reply. How do I tell if it is a positive or negative ground? There is no battery in it now.

My redneck way is to look at or measure the battery cables,IIRC the positive lug on the battery is slightly larger than the negative post and the cable ends will reflect that.

I would do that also, I was just hoping there would be a better way.

Since it has an alternator on it you stand a 99% chance it is - ground and if you hook it up wrong you will know real fast that it is wrong because the alternator will likely start to smoke. Only alternator I have ever seen that was + ground is a Lucas which your not likely to have unless your in England
