Farmall H control rod

Hi: This was seized. It took a small pipe wrench and penetrant to get this assembly to work. It is stripped down and ready to paint. My guess is that the rod got bent while trying to turn the handle. Before I paint this up, should the rod be straight?? Thanks, Jack

I have a 1942 Farmall H. The rod is bent similar to yours.
Others will probably chime in also.

Thanks. It has been a while since I removed this so wasn't sure how it made it from the seat area to the front of the Farmall. Best regards, Jack

looks like rod for radiator shutter? I left mine off when I restored my 1942 H, I had no shutter.
