Ford 8600 pto

Need some help, ford 8600 pto is not working now, was bushoging farm with a 15ft batwing. Was mowing along got a phone call, shut pto off along with tractor took my call, started back up but now pto barley turns. Front end loader still works great put out 6x6 hay with rear and front loader all winter long. Duel power works great as well. Thanks for any help. (I feel like pto clutches are fine, I feel like it's another issue)

Disease of 8600 tractors, neighbor had one I overhauled the

engine , but did not work on the pto. Dealer worked on the pto,

there is a coupling in the middle of the tractor that seems to

be the problem , dealer worked on it twice , he then got rid

of the tractor because of that.

I'm assuming that you have to split the tractor to get to that coupling?

Have you checked external linkage? Check the easy stuff first. A sudden failure like yours would point towards a hydraulic problem. A pressure gauge and a manual would help a lot in determining if you have an hydraulic leak.

Yes, there is a cable that runs over the top of trans to left side and operates an arm there that goes to the valve inside where hydraulic pressure operates the clutch pack. It should all be accessible by removing the top cover, but It may be just as easy to split it between trans and rear housing.

So what do I look for at the linkage where it goes to the left side?

Check that it is connected and that the arm moves with the lever.
