I have been searching all over the web and can find little information on how to rebuild generators and where to purchase the various parts.

I would like to rebuild my generator and convert it to 12 volts in the process.

Where can I buy brushes, an armature, etc.?

Are there any good sources of "how-to" information?

Consider getting a 12 volt generator from A salvage vehicle if you are not
trying to maintain the original appearance. Much cheaper.

The generator is off of a 1949 Case VAI. I do not think it is original, though.

There is a faint stamp that looks like the "Ford" logo, but I am not certain. There are three wire connection points.

I have converted two generators from 6 volt to 12 volt. I replaced the 6 volt field coils with 12 volt field coils. Did a Farmall H and a Farmall M. 12 volt batteries fit right into the original boxes. Tractors look original. The biggest problem is finding good regulators that will last. At least the imports are fairly cheap! You can find them on ebay. I think the field coils are there too.
