FORD 960 POWER STEERING CYLINDER.........ARRRRRGGGGGGG !

Greetings to all !

Before I embark upon some ambitious retooling of an old idea, has anyone taken one of these cylinders apart at the base/flange ? My plan is to install a new tube onto this with a gland that can be unscrewed in the future on the rod end if need be for piston/rod seal repair.

My thoughts were to write the Ford tractor company demanding that the engineer be fired, but then realized I probably dont have to worry about this aspect anymore considering I was born in 57 and the tractor was born in 54.

Is the base/flange at the bottom of the tube concealing any hidden valves within the tube before I make a flush cut. There are the two fluid holes on the back side, but one of them seems to have a check valve inside the tube that I may not be able to see ?

The other hole is a straight shot to the piston.
