John Deere Carb TSX-245 Question/Help needed

I am rebuilding a TSX-245 Carb. for a JD 420. I have the carb apart. I got everything out BUT the nozzle in the bottom of the bowl. I can NOT even turn the brass part to get it loose. I can get a new one. I have some "easy outs". I would like to try these. I know this sounds goofy but will the brass hold up and not bugger up the female threads in the bowl? I am at the end of my wits. Please help with suggestions for getting this piece out.
This is my first big tractor project and would like to do it myself. I realize I could go buy a rebuilt carb but now it is the "principle" of the matter.
Also this carb is not original to this tractor. Will this carb be OK?
Thank You in ADVANCE for any help offered up.

Heat the nozzle area with acetalyne torch. let it cool, it should screw out without a problem.

Thanks, I don't have acetylene, will propane work?
Thanks again, Dsmythe

DO NOT USE AN EASY OUT!

I would suggest you go to Lowes or NAPA and get a 5/16 flat tip screwdriver. Carefully grind the spread above the tip the same size as the shaft so it will go all the way down in the hole. Give it a couple of good whaps with a hammer and try to turn it out while pushing down as hard as you can. Once the slot in the brass wallers out you're done. If that doesn't work and without heat you'll have to drill it out. There are two threaded sections on the nozzle so it will be deeper than it looks. What I did was make a bushing 3/4 in long that just fit the recess in the carb body and center drilled it to keep the bit straight while drilling out the nozzle. I used a 1/4 drill so I woulden't get into the carb body. I then ran a 5/16 drill through to finish the bore. A 3/8 X 24 tap to chase the threads will peel out the tiny bits of brass that's left.

You may need to grind special screwdrivers to fit the idle jet and economizer jet in the top half. BTW there are three tiny holes in the throat that need to be cleaned out. You should also replace the sintered brass weep plug in the bottom of the carb so gas will drain out should the needle and seat or float fail. It's available from Roberts Carb. A 1/8 punch will tap the old one out and just tap the new one back in.

Your carb is for an M series. It will cut down on the gas and air just a tad from the original but in real world conditions you can't tell the difference.

Any time you have brass stuck in cast etc, heat just the brass up with acetylene tip just until you see a pretty green flame momentarily. Remove heat and let cool or force cool and they turn out effortlessly. They don't need to be red hot...you will see the "green" flame when it's enough. Don't wear a tinted shield..you won't see green with them.

Thank you all for the help. I am looking for a friend who has a torch. I am waiting for a float so I am not in a large hurry. Thank you ALL again. Ya'll are great

Thank you again for the help, I got it drilled out Sunday after Church and went to the local hwd store for a tap on Monday, I cleaned out the threads today. Now, to order the new nozzle and the little plugs you mentioned. THANK YOU again M-Man
