MF 35 3cyl making horrendous noise

I used to work at a local IH 40 years ago and I still do some repairs but today I come across something I have never seen before or perhaps I should say never heard before
there is a guy living about a mile away and a while ago he bought a MF 35 3 cyl with a reconditioned engine . it is fitted with a new hourmeter and has done 55 hours he phoned me to say his tractor is making a noise and asked could I have a look so i went when he started it there was a very loud noise
which seemed to be at the front.. I shouted stop it .. after trying a few more times with the same results I said I have never heard this before.. but when it was started again and run at about 1000 RPM for about 10 minutes it was ok until engine speed increased when it made same noise again.
I noticed it was fitted with a new dynamo and the pulley was not inline but only by a small amount
the oil pressure gauge was close to top mark .. anyone have any ideas to problem

I don't know how the balancer mounts to the crank on those, but on the 6 cylinder 354 Perkins in my Oliver, this tapered washer goes behind the large flat washer on the bolt and tightens it on there. I wonder if that has something similar and the bolt has come loose and let's it wobble at high speeds?

My experience with a broken crank is a double knock as the crank flexes. You didn't describe the noise, but since it's not there at low rpm, I would run it low and use a stethoscope to see if it's making a faint noise. If you suspect it's engine related, there might be some metal in the pan. Drain the oil and check. If there isn't any metal in it, pour it back in.
