Oil pressure drop ford 226 h

Morning,I installed head gasket, adjusted valves, but my oil pressure is very low. When cold it's 30lbs,after 10 minutes it drops to half ,20 minutes about 7lbs.If I Rev it up the best it will show is15lbs.I had oil pump rebuilt, cleaned relief valve, added washer nothing helps,it runs great no smoke, motor was done 15yrs ago that's all I know I have an aftermarket gauge installed in sending unit hole ,any info would be great, thanks

48fotd,Do a test to see if the filter canister is causing your low oil pressure problem.disconnect and plug the pressure feed line going to the oil filter. Then start it and check the oil pressure.Rod and main bearings could have excessive clearance. The oil pump, even though rebuilt could have excessive clearance between the gears and pump cavity, cover plate worn.last the cam shaft could have excessive clearance.Any or all of the above could cause your low pressure problem.even a missing oil galley plug.Has it always had low pressure or is it a new to you engine?

I agree with Den, if it has an oil filter that can contribute to the pressure loss. The line feeding the
filter, or the fitting going into the filter needs a restrictor orifice or it will drop the oil pressure.

Also, any way to find the pressure specs? Those didn't typically run a lot of pressure.

Originally the engine would probably have run on straight 30 weight oil. Might try something like 15w 40. If
it's not knocking, and gets minimal use, it will probably go a long time as is.

thanks, the oil canister bolts directly to block no lines, where would restrictor be in canister? The oil pressure drop is new since october,I can't find pic of restrictor if any, thanks

Where is the restrictor? The block has an inlet and outlet hole, the go inside of block ,There is no restrictor in block, the canister housing is the same way inlet, outlet holes I can't find anything that looks like restrictor it only happens when warm after 10-15 minutes, thanks

The book says 57lbs for pump, this problem is new, always had good oil pressure 30lbs, I built a cover plate and disonnected oil canister last week no change in pressure reading, was low with no canister,Thanks

Cam bearings can easily cause the oil pressure drop your seeing. They rarely get replaced during an in frame overhaul.

I am replying again.Took truck for ride today, had 30lbs oil pressure on startup.Drove 6 miles, then left running pressure dropped to 5 at idle, won't go up even accelerating,no gauge increase, what else could I check?
