Ford 226h flathead six

I blew a head gasket on this motor,and want to replace it.I am using a felpro this time.I would like to know what kind of bolt sealer do you use to stop head bolts from leaking?Mine are connected to water jackets.Also does anyone have the valve lash specs,and procedure for adjusting these valves,any info would be great ,thanks

48fotd,You can use some white liquid teflon sealer on the head bolts,even red rtv silicone or even old Indian head sealer will work.

Valve lash should be set cold ,Intake valves .010, Exhaust.014

thanks,this setting differs from my ford manual,also I used liquid white sealant last time and bolts came out all gooy looking,thanks

I use a Loctite product made specifically made for sealing threads into the water jacket.

48fotd,You could get some Permatex Thread Sealant - 4 oz Part #APTSG for your head bolts.Or even some pipe joint compound will work.
