I recenently have done a pain staking restoration of a 1939 9n 6v my problems are 1 . no spark i have 6v at the coil nothing comming out at plugs if i connect the coil direct i get the spark still no start but fires i now have a 12 ampmeter hooked up is this the problem
or were should i look at a lose next problem is the carb brand new yet gas flows threw the intake freely any and all help would be appreciated

(quoted from post at 19:00:08 03/16/16) volt meter
f you connected it simply in place of the ammeter, then do as I said earlier & jumper across its terminals & see if you have ign.

After a lot of testing and reasearch ive gotten no were however i did notice on my last set of test that when wired properly i get a -6v from the coil were with a jumper wire i get a +6v reading wiring looks to be good ive followed the scematics a few times to make sure

elling me that you measured -6 or +6 or any voltage is meaningless unless I am told where each meter lead was connected at time of measurement & other particulars as to which coil lead, ign on/off, points open/closed, where jumper ends connected, etc. Need information in order to be helpful.

that was ingtion on at the coil _-6v
+6 volts with jumper
the neg might be because I am running a positive ground im very stumped and fusterated

K, voltmeter connected with one lead at chassis of tractor (same as POS battery terminal) and other meter lead to stud on top of coil.....all that correct?
Ign key on & you see -6v, but with jumper from (where to where?), you see +6v. I don't see any way that +6 can be measured anywhere, since the battery has the Positive terminal to chassis. Would be nice to know where jumper is, however.

(quoted from post at 17:51:39 03/17/16) I was jumping wrong thank you for spelling it out with the jumpers on the meter I now have spark
K, that very likely means that your voltmeter is wires incorrectly, i.e., wired as if it were an ammeter. If you need more help in changing that, speak up.

(quoted from post at 11:01:39 03/18/16) Absolutly could use the the help thank you
don't have diagrams of your 9N with ammeter & with viltmeter for you to compare, but these with alternator & voltmeter and with ammeter will show the different meter connections. Just ignore the alternator. If you had/have a two terminal ammeter instead of loop style as shown here, just splice those two wires together.
In the voltmeter diagram, the voltmeter connections should be as shown with the exception of +/- being reversed, since you are Positive ground.

(quoted from post at 12:40:34 03/18/16) should I be eliminating the cut out relay
ot unless you have an alternator like that diagram shows. You still have a generator like the first diagram do you not?
