TW30 clutch free travel

I have recently acquired a 1983 TW30 in decent condition. The previous owner said it ran and worked well, but he thought the clutch slipped when pulling hard--not a lot but some. I noticed the clutch pedal has NO free travel. It's hard to depress, but for a tractor this size that doesn't surprise me. The book says the couch should have a bit over 1" of free travel. Does it make sense this could be causing clutch slippage? I'm not that familiar with this tractor's clutch mechanism. Cheers.
