CHROMED EXHAUST MANIFOLD

I have been warned that chrome plating an exhaust manifold could cause over heating? Does anyone have any experience with this? Any comments would be appreciated. Thanks.

I have had some aluminized and they held up well. Cousin used to work at a place that had equipment to spray weld up shafts and it could also spay aluminum onto manifolds and pipes.

I dont think there is a shread of scientific evidence to support the idea of chrome plating causing over heating. The reason it is not done is the chrome plating will not hold up long on a cast iron manifold. It will last long enough on an exhaust header but if the engine is worked much, chrome will become different shades of blue and purple, unless the exhaust header is double wall steel. There was a time when hobby tractors had their exhaust manifolds black ceramic coated or Mike M used to aluminize them.
