Bobcat 610 Axle Seals Leaking

Hi, I recently purchased a Bobcat 610. There is fluid leaking from all 4 axles. Although I'm fairly handy I'm not familiar with the workings of these machines. I started with the front axle. I have a repair manual but it is pretty vague. What I've done so far....I loosened the secondary drive chains, I also backed the nuts for the final drive chains but I didnt notice any difference?? Then I removed the cotter pin and large nut from the end of the axle with the brake hub. Then I went inside the chaincase and bent over the large locking washer next to the sprocket. I was then able to back the large nut off. The axle moves back and forth but will not come out. Any help with this would greatly appreciated!!

Been a while so someone can correct me if I am wrong. Those axles are in Timken bearings. It may take a pair of pry bars to remove them if the shaft is burred. On mine the axles had to be welded & turned as they had a groove where the seal rides.

Thank You very much for the information. I was able to get the axle out. It looks to me that someone had previously used a repair sleeve on the axle, but it is pretty worn. So it looks like I need to replace two bearings, two seals and this repair sleeve. Does this sound correct? I noticed some people went to their local NAPA store and purchased the parts. Is this advisable? Is there any secrets to getting this back together? Thanks in advance for your help and thank heavens for this site!!

Seals should be a common size that NAPA can supply. If the bearings look good you can use them as they turn slow. Just get them adjusted with a little pre load.

See if you can find a Manuel on that. If not, turn the nut until all end play is gone then a notch more to get the cotter key in.

Hi, I just separated the axle from the outer hub. The bearing looks fine. There seems to be two seals with the outer one looking pretty well shot. The inner one looks ok. The part on the axle where the seal would ride has some fairly deep groves in it. I've read there is a repair sleeve for this. Would I have to get this from Bobcat? I noticed in my manual it comes in a kit. Im wondering if I can buy it separately. I have a service manual but it doesn't tell me much. Thanks in advance for the help!!

I've read that Napa could crossreference the bobcat seals for theirs. Has anyone had any luck with this. I'm replacing the front seals. Bobcat part #6515000

Hi, I have re-installed the axles on my bobcat 610. Can anyone tell me how tight the large 2 inch nut inside the chain case needs to be. This is the nut that has the locking washer that you bend over when you get the nut tight. When I disassembled it the nut on all four axles were only finger tight. After I adjusted the drive chains they seem to bind a bit now. The secondary chain seems to get really tight then really loose as I rotate the axles. Any Information you can provide will be greatly appreciated!!
