Need help Ford Forklift?

New to the site so please let me know if I need to post this somewhere else. I am bartering for an old rough terrain forklift. It has a ford motor that has been converted to propane. I found two numbers near the starter 41500S and below it diamond 2483 diamond. On the I believe transmission has conn6015J. Can anyone tell me about this machine? A good manual for it? It ran well for a while but I cant get it to role over now. I have replaced the battery and have even tried to jump start the starter but it will not role over. I tried to remove the started but there is something attached to the end after the gear. (sorry familiar with car/trucks not tractor/forklift repairs). I really need to get this running to start cutting more with my sawmill.
Thanks,
Nick

The numbers you found sound like casting numbers, not model numbers. There should be a tag somewhere,
usually near the operator seat, it will have model, serial numbers, and capacity information. If that is
missing, there is usually a stamped number in a major frame component. Could be covered with paint, grease,
mud, but will be in an obvious place, readable from the top or side.

I can't imagine what would be holding the starter... Shouldn't be any different from any other starter.
Possibly something in the way not allowing it to come back far enough?

Have you tried turning the engine through by hand? Make sure it will turn and not locked up. Also be sure
the hydraulic levers are all in the center position. If there is a lever not in neutral, the hydraulic
system will load and stop the engine from turning.

Taking a guess it is an old flathead engine or similar that has the style of drive that moves toward the starter to engage.
If so you may need to do some pulling and wiggling to get it to clear the flywheel for removal.
To better understand what I am trying to describe, once you have it out you will be looking at what looks like a starter with a long shaft, the end of the shaft will have what will look like a drive on backwards.
No enclosed nose cone.

You might want to go down to the 8N group. It sounds like it may have a starter like the 8N on it & they could be a problem to take off. just my thoughts, Keith
