Oliver 1650 Gear Lube Leaks

I have 3 gear lube leaks on my 1650, two are on the lower end of the 3pt. arms, it is a little wet from each of these and it goes to the center and drops on the draw bar. Both of these appear to be very small/slow leaks. The third and biggest leak is coming from the PTO shaft. Non of these are gushing leaks and the three of them together hit the drawbar then the drawbar drips in one spot and if I catch this in say an ice cream bucket it takes several months to fill the bucket. Someday I would like to fix them all but for now I was wondering if someone could tell me 1) approximately what is involved and how difficult it could be to replace these seals (I am mechanically inclined and do a lot of my own repairs but have never worked on this before...) ? and 2) For a general purpose chore tractor that is not doing heavy field work anymore would it be that bad to not fix now and run it low on gear lube -- I'm wondering if when the oil gets low enough not to be leaking out of the PTO shaft (the worst leak) is it really dangerously low ? I know I've had it that low before for a short time because I've noticed the leak almost stopped, then I added gear lube back up to the check plug and was right back to leaking. Any advise will be greatly appreciated.

You don't want to run it low on oil The top shaft in the transmission is pressure lubricated and if the pump can not pick up any oil you will ruin the top shaft and one gear for sure. Explain your PTO leak a little more. It will be the easy one to fix. You have e-ail or a phone number? Happy New Year!! J.

Thanks for responding J. , the gear lube leak looks to be coming out around the PTO shaft bearing, between the bearing and the housing. Foolishly I replaced the bearing a while back because it was fairly quick and easy to do but I should have known that is really not meant to hold oil. I have since been told that further in there is actual oil seal and that you may have to make your own slide hammer to remove it and that there shouldn't even be oil clear back at the PTO shaft support bearing but I wondered if anyone could give me more detail on the whole slide hammer/seal removal/installation procedure. J. , I included my phone number at the end of my last post if you would like to call that or if you want to send me yours I can call you. Also email works good for me but I've been trying to find how to private message someone because I would prefer to send more personal information via private message but I must be missing it, if you or anyone could point me in the right direction on that I'll call or email you with more detailed contact information for me. Thanks, Sean.
