O/T Rusting away

Found these rusting away in a field on a recent trip to Alaska. About 25 miles from the old Kennicot copper mine. It's enough to make an old hot rodder cry.

Wow , neat photos . That piece of stainless trim on the truck would be gone around here .

The truck was not actually in the field. It was at the mine, which is pretty well guarded. I can't believe the parts that are still on the cars though. Headlight cans, wood spoke wheels, doors, fenders, etc. Some of the cars had snow tracks on the rear and ski's for the front wheels.

I was near there almost 40 years ago and didn't see them. Bet they were in better shape then.

I have heard if they cast a shadow they can be restored.

Amazing how that heavy sheet metal has survived. I wonder if the brutal cold temperatures slow down the rust, or must be dry there.
