Rebuilt carb JD 40 still won't run

JD 40 was running rough, seemed like a fuel problem. I rebuilt the carb and still doesn't run any better. Just replaced all ignition parts last summer. Any suggestions on where to start looking next?

have ya checked compression? If nothing else it would rule out internal engine problem.

Sounds like you need to do basic trouble shooting. Ignition parts that are a year old can be bad shoot I have seen them bad right out of the box.
#1 check your spark at all the plug wires. You need a nice blue/white spark that jumps a 1/4 inch gap or more
#2 pull the carb drain plug and make sure you have a steady flow of gas for at least 3 minutes. It should fill a pint jar in less then that.
#3 if you have all that compression is the next thing to check could be as simple as a valve adjustment

If you've checked the fuel flow from the carb, you may have already found the problem. With my 40 it was a small screen located inside the inlet fitting on the carb. After finally locating and cleaning this screen, which was restricted, the problem went away.
