Ford 401 tractor engine

I have a Ford 401 tractor engine and want to rebuild it as a 401 turbo. What are the differences I
need to take into account? I'm assuming I would use a Ford 9000 rebuild kit, but are there
differences in other parts, i.e., oil pump, crank, etc?

I have a 9000. I did a little bit of comparing components between 8000 and 9000 out of curiosity when I knew of someone that was putting a turbo on an 8000. There appear to be a lot of little differences when you start comparing part numbers on the CNH site. One little difference that I can think of is that the rods of a 9000 have little holes to let oil spray up at the underside of the piston to cool it while the 8000 rods do not. in order to stand up to the stress of 30% more HP they had to strengthen it in many places.

Like showcrop said, there's some little differences.

The turbocharged ford engines have a different piston from their NA counterpart. Wrist pin is larger, 1.625 vs. 1.5. The connecting rod is of course different to match the wrist pin, like showcrop said it has piston cooling features in it.

I'm not sure about the 6 cylinder, but I know the 4 cylinder NA blocks didn't have the oil supply and drain drilled and tapped for the turbo.

I believe there is a difference in the cylinder head as well if ford kept the same tradition with the 6 cylinders as the 4 cylinders. This includes the intake manifold as there were many different intake port designs over the years.

I couldn't find any other differences. Block, oil pump, crank all have the same part number between the two.
You are aware that those engines were prone to cavitation damage on the cylinder bores and that the recommended practice is to bore and sleeve back to standard bore to prevent a potential disaster later.
