bought wifes grampa's 706. last run 30 yrs ago. it is in a closed shed. any do's or don't's before trying to fire it up. it was running fine when he passed and it was just left there.
 
Congrat's, I'd sure like to find one of those not used for 30 years. With a gem like that you'll want to do several things. I would fill the cylinders with ATF and let it sit for at least a week. While it's soaking there is alot you can do. Change the oil/filter. Drain and flush cooling system, replace coolant and check for hose/rad leaks. Also pretty important -- make sure the temp gauge WORKS. Drain and clean fuel tank, change fuel filters, check fuel lines for leaks. Tires may need attention particularly if rears have fluid. May need to deal with tire valve corrosion. I would also remove the starter and disassemble to clean it and free up stick brushes. Then go through your starter circuit and clean connections, battery cables, etc. Get a new battery.
