Replacing Hydraulic / Transmission Fluid

I am replacing my Hydraulic / Transmission Fluid on a Ford 1940 9N. Not sure if it has ever been replaced (ha ha).

I am concerned about large gobs of gunk left after I have drained it.

Some forums I have read that you can clean it with mineral spirits.

Looking for any advice on how to clean the gunk.

Thanks, The Rookie

Real hard ot get it real clean with out at the very least pulling the top cover since years of old build up junk will be in there and nothing you pour in will clean it all up

No will not hurt as long as you do not run it that way since the mineral spirits will not lube things

I would pour in about three gallons of diesel and let
it set overnight. Then drain out. If you want to take
the top off you could get lots more.
