just got my uncles jubilee, the from emblem is not red like the pics, just silver. my main question is, was thinking of going with 12 volt generator.still looks original, but better lights. does the 6 volt wiring harness work with the 12 volt gen.

Wiring harness, points, condenser and ammeter don't care whether 6 or 12 volt. If you go to 12 volt change lights, and either add a resistor or replace coil with one designed for direct 12 volts.

If it has the original wiring harness in which the wires would probably be dry, cracked, brittle, and bare spots I would replace it.

I am planning on a complete overhaul, no one listed a 12 volt harness. everyone says for 6 volt gen only.

(quoted from post at 09:29:11 11/22/15) I am planning on a complete overhaul, no one listed a 12 volt harness. everyone says for 6 volt gen only.

Diesels were 12V they came out in '58. So look up 801 or 901 diesel.

I can't imagine what the difference would be. Thinking they are assuming most get converted to alternator, in which case the harness would be different.

You can buy a chevy alternator for about 50 bucks. That will do away with your voltage regulator as its built into your alternator. If your wiring is okay it will work fine. Only thing you may have to do is change the bracket some and put a 6volt ceramic resister in the line going to the coil. I do this on all my tractors/dozers. Saves on batteries Just my 3 cents worth. yes, yocan swap in the genny ( and reg ) from a diesel red tiger.

I have such a stealth conversion on a 950 right now.
