CVA injection pump question

The injection pump on my 3165 MF backhoe started leaking around the hydraulic head housing where it goes into the main housing. It got bad enough that the tractor wouldnt start SO I decided to do a complete re-seal with rotor blade replacement.

When i pulled the front drive shaft bolt, 2 small 3/8 dia magnet washers with a hard black plastic cap on each end came out with the bolt. THe whole thing is about 7/16 thick.

I dont know why its there? Does anyone know what this small magnet assembly is for or I if should reinstall it in the shaft?

The pump number is 3240F968

Never heard of the magnet washers on a CAV DPA pump in the 40 years I've worked on pumps. There should be a lock washer and a heavy flat washer with flats one each side so it can be put in the hub first, then the lock washer. Make sure some red Loctite is used on the allen screw..

Thanks Dieseltech I have looked at every diagram I have for the CVA pump and I have know idea why this little magnet assembly is in my pump.

I do have a locking spiral washer and a flat washer alone with the screw for the front drive.

Diesel Tech I know your in the business of repairing/rebuilding pumps. If I sent you a message could you share your contact info for your business. I feel that some day I may need someone to do more than a sealing job on a pump.
