My rear tire valve stem is leaking slightly around the base of the stem and rim. My tires are filled with liquid- calcium? Can I change out the valve stem without dismounting the tire and can you use a regular rubber stem found at auto parts place?

need to be sure where the leaks coming from.out of the hole in the rim or out of the valve gut itself.if it's the valve, they are usually two piece.jack wheel off the ground and rotate valve to 12:00.now you can unscrew inner part of valve which has an 'o' ring and replce it or just valve gut.can get inner part of valve stem from ag tire dealer or tcs type store.

If it has fluid in it good chance it also has a tube in it since CACL will rust a rim fast. If you closely at it does it have an inner and outer stem part?? If yes then you can replace the outer part or replace the o-ring it may have on the end of it. Any good tire place that does tractor tires will have them

I changed out 16 VALVE CORE ASSEMBLIES this past summer.
You must check to see which TYPE you have
Take one of yours with you to the TIRE SHOP.
There are at LEAST 3 different types.

There is also one that has an outer part that screws down instead of the treads being inside like the ones you picture

(quoted from post at 05:59:33 10/29/15) My rear tire valve stem is leaking slightly around the base of the stem and rim. My tires are filled with liquid- calcium? Can I change out the valve stem without dismounting the tire and can you use a regular rubber stem found at auto parts place?

This is what I have done with basketcase tire stems ... After draining the calcium (with wheel/tire jacked up):

1) Disassemble the valve stem from the valve base (core) and replace it with new stem (from a new assembly - normally not found at auto stores).

2) OR ... if the valve itself is trashed because it is old or corroded (and the stem threads are still good) ... take valve out of stem, and put BRASS stem extension on with new valve. You can get BRASS stem extensions from Amazon.com.

3) OR ... if the whole valve stem is trashed or the stem threads are bad,
- cut the valve stem off clean just below the valve
- clean up what's left of the stem with 60-grit sandpaper
- apply silicone seal (or liquid metal) around top of old stem
- screw or slip on new a BRASS stem extension over top of sealant and let setup and dry

I've repaired damaged stems this way and avoided removing the tire and replacing the tube, but you can't put fluid back in the tire (unless you can fill it through the valve stem).

I've looked closer at the stem and it appears that the outer nut that holds the valve to the rim is half broken off. Hopefully the threads are not damaged. Will jack up the tractor, move the valve to the top, remove the remainder of the nut and will replace the nut and valve stem with new parts from new valve. This should fix the leak. Appreciate all the good advice, thanks.

If that is the nut that goes on the bigger part of the stem all that does is holds the tube out and on the rim and that will not fix any thing. Good chance you have a leak in the tube and it needs to be drained and pulled out and fixed and or replaced
