Feg TEA 20 Reconnecting back end

I'm getting resistance when trying to reconnect the back half of the tractor to the front. The parts are lined up and I'm at the point where the first set of gears connect.
I'll add a photo to show where I'm at when resistance is met. Not sure if I can send a photo.....
I'm using bolts to pull the two sections together and don't want to apply too much pressure.
Anyone been through this operation and can advise?
thanks

Are you connecting the REAR DIFF. to the TRANSMISSION or are you connecting the rear DIFF and TRANSM. as a unit to the Engine?

It looks to me like your not lined up in the hydraulic pump. The splines have to mesh the gears inside the pump. DO NOT pull it together with bolts!!!! You will break things. Asked this down on the Harry Ferguson forum. Those guys can tell you quickly.

I have always removed the PTO shaft and the TOP CONTROLL cover of the 3 point hitch when ever I've assembled the REAR DIFF. to the Transmission.(Just my choice)
Yes.... you possibly can view the coupling between the DIFF.PINION and the out put of the Trans. through the side inspection ports? Port on the right has the Diff Oil dip stick, port on the left has the shifter lever for he PTO.
UNDER NO circumstances have I ever used BOLTS to draw the two housings together.

Thanks for the input. I'm using the bolts to ensure accurate alignment so not applying any pressure or trying to force the parts together. I have not pulled the PTO shaft. I removed the PTO control lever to allow the rear to release from transmission. I thought I could reverse the steps.
PTO Shaft looks like the next step for me.
Thanks again.

How does one put one together without pulling it the
last 1/2 with the bolts? I split about ten a year and
have always pulled them together. Anything from a
1586 to an 8n. That being said I use a 3/8 ratchet the
size of a quarter ratchet and one finger worth of
force but never been able to push one all the way
together.

Thanks for all the support. The tractor is reassembled. I did not need to remove PTO.
I did apply some pressure with clamps for the last 2" separation. The trick for me was to rotate the PTO while pressure was applied. I turned the shaft about 10 degrees when it clicked and locked. The remaining distance was covered with just some moderate clamp pressure. Seems like aligning the splines of the PTO did the trick.
Thanks again.
