Help I got no instructions with my new pistons for an International 240.
I've searched and figured out the chrome one on top the funky wavy thing looks like the bottom but what about the other 4?
2 look like rings and 2 look like really thin rings.
Never done this before so thanks for the help.!

There are many different ring designs available. The safest thing to do is contact the mfg, get a copy of the instructions specific to their design.

Or search "piston ring orientation", look under images. There will be an assortment of pictures and diagrams showing the various designs. But it will be up to you to find the closest match. Not an area you want to be guessing!

Chrome compression ring on top, black cast-iron compression ring in the middle, oil ring (wavy looking thing as you
described) in the bottom slot with the two thin scraper rings on top and underneath the oil control ring. All three in
the same slot.

Look at the two compression rings, at least one will be marked with a dimple or the word "top" on it according to the
manufacturer's instructions. The black ring has a tapered face and if it's like mine, it has a dimple indicating the top
side. Dimple goes up.

The chrome ring may or may not have any markings. My understanding is if it's not marked it as a straight face, not
a tapered face and can be placed either side up.

Make sure that you stagger the ring gaps 120° before you put it back together.

Put the wavy ring in the bottom groove first then place each thin ring on each side of it .One on top of wavy , one on bottom . Stagger the thin ring gaps. Now your oil control ring is in . Any dots usually go up . Best to contact manufacturer if there are any bevels as to which wat they want them.

Couple of tips when installing the pistons in the bores. Get a ring compressor!!! Farm and fleet has a band type lisle that works good. I use a
coffee can and put a quart of new engine oil in it. Dunk the piston with the new rings on it for a few minutes to get it good and lubed. Also, get a
couple lengths of rubber fuel line to slide over the rod bolts when installing the pistons. It keeps the bolts from damaging the crankshaft during
install. About 4 inches long or so and snug fitting on the bolts. I use a short lenght of broom handle and a rubber mallet to tap the pistons in.
GENTLY!!!!
