Hi guys. Is there anyone who can tell me what would cause my tractor to only turn left with assistance from
The power steering? To the right is practically impossible. I've changed the seals in the gearbox. It's a worm gear type.
And all the pipes look okay has a new pump.
Thanks gents.

Wild guess...so take it for what it's worth.

On the older Ford gearboxes (in particular, a friend's 641) if the column/worm gear loses lubrication or just plain wears out the bearings that align/hold the steering column and worm gear...you'll only be able to steer one way for a while...until the bearings completely fail and you can't turn the darn thing in either direction.

I'm wondering how much of this is analogous to your situation?

Does your column/worm gear itself have any play in it if you pull the column up and down?

Did the gearbox ever run dry?

I don't know. If you've fixed your pump, maybe consider a mechanical problem with the column/worm gear itself?

When you try to turn right, can you hear the pump load?

If not, likely the directional valve is not sending fluid to the cylinder.

If it is loading, possibly a mechanical binding in the gear box.
