IH model 184

Just put a pilot bearing in my dad's 184 in March. Take the pto belt tightener off. Take the rockshaft off from the bottom. Take the clutch/transaxle shaft out. The clutch and pressure plate has to come out from the bottom. Be sure and replace the pilot bearing, it is a standard ball bearing and is available at any bearing supply. Maybe a 6202? Check the release bearing also.

Get a set of manuals from Jensales. They are worth it. To get the pilot bearing out, you have to remove the flywheel. It presses in from the engine side of the flywheel against a flange. It WILL NOT come out any other way.

It took us about 4-5 hours start to finish.
