How to remove MF power steering cylinders

I think these are the originals with replaceable threaded ends (MF 240, 1979), although someone has tried to weld these on in the past but this has now broken. I'm hoping that the threads on the rods are still ok.
Does anyone know how to remove the vertical studs...got the nut off this one but the stud wont budge and on the other end, the stud is spinning so I cant get the nut off.

I leave the nut on 3 or 4 threads, put tension with a pry bar on top of the rod and just under the arm. Then hit the arm on the side with a heavy hammer, that's always worked for me. The tapered stud will pop loose really quick.

Thanks, will give that a go.

It wouldn't budge at all. I'm wondering if there is any possibility that this is threaded in??? it does have a slot on the top....

The slot on the top, is to put a screwdriver into, so you can get the nut off when it is "spinning" like the one you have on the other side.
The seized one...you may have to heat the casting, to expand the metal so the rod can be tapped out.

I don't have oxy-acetyline. Any ideas of what I could use/how much heat this will need?

May not take a lot of heat....you never know. A small propane bottle MAY do the trick. depends on how stuck it is.

Beginning to think that this may not be the replaceable end type.
This is what I have (I think) but it shows the end with the rod complete with part number just for the rod not for the end:

And this is what I ordered:

But I have just seen this on another site and I think because my rod has been welded ( albeit as a bodged repair), that there may not be any thread in there. But the part number does not show up on the diagram above. Now thoroughly confused:

Red, just take a hammer [3-4 lb] and hit the side of the steering arm. may take 4 or 5 times but it will pop right off. You could also go to your local HF and buy a pickle fork. won't be the only time you will use it.
