I have a David Brown 880 Selectamatic diesel tractor. Excessive oil is leaking, at a rate of about a quart
an hour, from the exhaust breather on the underside of the engine, next to the oil pan. Is there any way to
tell if the engine oil filter by-pass valve is clogged or not functioning properly? Also there is an oil
pump wire filter within the oil pan that also has an oil relief valve on it. They look clean, can I assume
they function? Could clogged oil by-pass valves be the cause of excess oil loss from the exhaust breather?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you,
Tom
