ih 2444 not firing

anyone good with points and distributers just bought 2444 could use some help points will not open they are new installed by last owner I can not get a gap when opened all the way if opened by hand you can see and hear small arc the red wire going to the coil arcs if disconnecting it so it has power to the coil

Likely, the points are wrong for the application, or simply were made in "The Land of Almost Right".

Get a new set from the FIAT dealer, or get a Standard Ignition/Blue Streak set from an auto parts store the has a grey haired 'ol guy that knows where they keep the paper "Ag and Industrial" ignition parts catalog, and how to use it.
