dumb question?

I am intending on buying a ford 8N and I want to adapt a front end loader from another tractor on it... my dumb question is this Since the 8 has a 3 point hitch then it has hydraulics correct? If that is the case does this tractor have a place I can hook into the hydraulic system to run the front loader's hydraulics? If I am correct is it difficult to find said connection point?

If that isn't the case where/ how can I hook up and run a hydraulic pump on this tractor... I think I've seen the pump mounted on the front and it looks as if it runs off the fan pulley

THANKS! I may seem a little slow but I've never been this old before!

YES it has a hydraulic pump, and Im NOT a Ford man, but I thought they ran their after market or add on live hydraulic pumps (ones with front loaders installed) out the front using the big bottom crankshaft pulley...

Yes it has hyds and yes you can tap into them but to do so you have the chain the 3 point arms down and then you can not use the 3 point and the loader. Your better off to get a load that is made to fit the 8N and there are a lot for them out there. You want one that has the crank shaft drive hyd pump that mounts to the front of the loader and then has a drive shaft to the crank shaft.

The front coupling to hook the hydraulic pump to the
crank pulley is easily available. You can use the
existing pump but it is way more work than its worth.
It does not have live hydraulic and as was said
earlier you have to chain down the three point to use
it. If you're from Bushnell il there is a 8n loader for
sale outside table grove by the old elevator. Do
yourself a favor and get the right loader and use a
front mount pump. Much easier to install and far
better to use. You can continue with your plan but I'd
recommend either go with what I said or getting a
different tractor.

The connection point is on the bottom of the transmission housing on the right side of the tractor. When sitting on the tractor with your feet on the floor board, the plug will be next to your right heel.

To use a loader the 3 point arms need to be tied down as stated. Once the 3 point arms are restrained pressure builds and the loader will raise.

To use the 3 point with the loader installed you will need a shut off valve in the pressure line to the loader cylinders. You raise the loader to the position you want it to stay and close the valve. The closed valve locks the loader in position - it no longer raises or lowers. Remove the tie downs on the 3 point arms to use the 3 pt.

You can use the 3 pt OR the loader. You cannot use the loader AND the 3 pt and the same time. I loaded a lot of manure with a 8N as a kid - it beats forking it. A front pump system is a better way to go. Getting a tactor with power steering is better yet.

thank you for all the advice, it has made me re-think my plan! the reason I was thinking of the different loader is that I want to use the tractor in the woods and that bucket ive seen on these tractors seems so...bulky and there doesn't seem to be an easy way to detach and reattach the front loader.
the 8n seems to be the perfect size for my plans what are your favorite small tractors for say skidding logs, clearing a food plot you know good ole retirement work/play!

The 8n will have a single hydraulic port. meaning your bucket will have to be a trip rope. For a loader you need a front pump
running off the crankshaft pulley.

8n"s are not really heavy enough for a loader. They all end up with broken axles, axle supports, or bolt holes broke out of the
oil pan.Everyone wants to lift more than they should.

This is a picture of my 2N
I can tell you that having a FEL on one these old tractors make them very hard to steer unless your the Hulk.
I suggest something a little newer WITH power steering.
Without the loader on it's very nimble
Hopefully somebody more knowledgeable about newer tractors will be along soon
