Carpet glue

I need to glue some carpet down to a metal floor. What would make it stick? I have been thinking contact cement but I expect it needs to something that will penetrate the back of the carpet a little.

When they laid our new carpet, there was some kind of big tape strip that they used. They had to heat it with a hot iron to activate it.

Thanks, Randy.

When I glued auto carpet to a metal floorboard I used a spray glue made by 3M. Be careful not to get it on an area you don't want glued. It's hard to remove. I masked with newspaper and masking tape. Can't remember any more details about the product but it worked great.
