magneto to distributor?

Im buying a 49 case sc. I pick it up tues. Owner used in in parades etc said magneto quit. He had a rebuilt one&vone that was on tractor no spark. Im thinking of converting to a distributor. Do I need a special bracket to mount the distributor? Or send out old for rebuild? . .(i searched the forum too many pages couldnt find the answer.)thanks in advance john

I would try the rebuilt one, may not be much wrong with the one that quit. Keeping it original will be the
easiest, and keep the value up.

Pop the cover on the old one.
On my SC I had to clean the moisture out of the cover end when it died. After that its worked fine.
They can also get hot if run a long time I have heard. So make sure you have good air movement past it.
