Painting pulleys

As I am beginning to paint parts on my old combine, i came to my first pulley. I see that the inside of them are all painted, and so i began to paint my first of many. But then i thought,

...I wonder if i shouldn't paint the inside of the pulley where the belt goes?
No one will really see it anyway, and,
...I wonder if the fresh paint i'm using will mess up the new belts i have on order?

I don't plan on using this combine for another year yet.

The implement paint i am using is Vansickle, and i'm using a brush, and it's pretty thick, but it still needs 2 coats. I'm not using a hardener, so it takes a long time for this stuff to set up, and you can't play with the painted parts too much without getting paint on you, even after a few weeks in some places, especially where i let a drip get by, or if i need to turn a nut. I painted a Disc, plow, grain drill, and harrow cart last year, but this is my first combine.

Thanks in advance.

You need to visualize how they would have done it at the factory. I expect that in this situation it would have all been sprayed, then belts etc. put on.

Yeah, i thought about that. I think that's what i'll do, i did get some spray cans for places the brush
won't reach, and i'll do a couple light dustings, that seems to be what it looks like they did. Thanks

I wouldn't bother painting the inside of a pulley. The belt will rub off any paint you do. I wouldn't bother masking it off either, just let what ever overspray goes on the inside get rubbed off.

That is exactly what I was advising without so many words.
