Moving a tractor around the garage

Getting started on my first old tractor project. I have a 1945 JD Model A. Doesn't run, one flat rear tire that wont hold air.

I don't want to invest in a tire until after I see if the engine can be fixed. Ten years ago it was used to pull a car out of a ditch but the owner didn't know the oil pump coupler had broken. It has been sitting ever since.

I need to be able to move the tractor in and out of the garage (all nice concrete floor and apron) so that I can work on family cars when needed.

Has anyone built or found any kind of wheel dollys for tractors? I have a set for cars but I'm not sure they would work with the big tires. I also have a couple small trailer axles available. Any thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks.

I had a JD A that the same thing happened. the engine just slowed down and stopped turning. A few days later we took the head off put some oil on the walls and got the pistons to slide back and forth and after the engine started turning free we started it up and used it. Tractor wasn't used every day but it was the only one I had at the time. Probably ran it 10 years before I sold it. After setting 10 years, it may be a little harder to get yours going.

With an extra driver a push pole works great and those tractors roll fine on flat or junk tires. I have even rolled them around on just the cast centers and even drove one around on a bare rim !
Harbor Freight sells car moving dolly's too. But those just have little casters so it better be smooth and level going.

That sounds like a good place to start, I couldn't get it to move the last time I tried but maybe I just need some helpers. I have some of those car dollys too, but I was worried the tractor would be too heavy for them. I'll see if I can get a push pole made this weekend.

I made a T shaped support out of a 5 inch square, rear mount cultivator frame. Small wheels at 3 ends.... 3uprights on the frame hold the 37 B JD, easy to roll around.

I have an Allis WC on a set of the car ones now, it works fine with the 12.4x28 tires I have. Real easy to move around the shop

Someone close to you probably has a tire that isn't much good, but will still hold air. Might even still be on a rim. Farmall H and M rear rims will interchange with John Deere A and B.

Here is one I built for my Oliver tractors. I hinged it so I can tip the transmission tub up with an engine lift. I can bolt the engine frame/tub on with the front wheels and move it out and around as assembled back. I built it under the tractor before removing tires.

Thanks everyone for the tips and photo's. I could not get it to move at all by pushing on it. Going on the assumption that the brakes may not be fully released (levers wont move) I removed them both. Now it at least rocks back and forth but I can't roll it past the big flat spot on that left tire. I'm going to see if I can get it to hold air just long enough to be moved where I need it.
