I have a beatup toplink for an Oliver 1650, the fingers have been spread open about an inch. The fingers are about 5/8 thick and my guess is that it is cast steel. I went to my local John Deere dealer and noticed they were not busy, so I asked the shop foreman if they could heat it up and bend it back. He just shook his head and said "Naw, it'll just break". Then I told him it was from an Oliver and the guy's face turned beet red, got a crazy look in his eyes and he started sweating and shaking all over.
Just kidding! But he really was annoyed that I had brought an Oliver part into his shop.
I didn't believe what he said because I've seen parts like this heated and bent back before. Is there a certain way to do it ?
