Can Por 15 be used in a diesel tank after electrolysis without using an agent to treat the metal so the Por 15
coating will stick?

You would be best served to contact the company and ask. They will tell you what is needed to do a proper job and you can be sure of getting the correct information from the mfg.

Well, since we all know that water can sit on the bottom of a tank, and a tank can sit on a tractor and not move for many years. it would be a very good idea to seal the rust, the same as in being sure to get all of the rust out of the bottom of rust pits before painting. I would treat it with SEM Rust-Mort, and convert any residual rust to inert iron phosphate. The POR 15 is great stuff and will neutralize some rust, but if a pit is too deep the electrolysis could have left a little rust at the bottom which will grow again.

Thank you for the replys. Final decision was: Case 930 tank. Removed entire back sheet metal and replaced due to 3pt implement smacking it creating about 8" x 4" dent. With rear of tank open we used 100 gal stock to setup electrolysis. took about a week. After this, tank was washed and sprayed with Eastwood Afterblast. Shaped and welded on new back, set tank on lp burners designed to boil gun barrels. Cooked until dry. Painted it today. Plan is no liner just diesel fuel.
