Changing a PTO shaft but 6 spline on both????

Hey guys,
I have a bush hog I am wanting to replace the PTO drive shaft because the one on it is old and who ever had it had the wrong size for the mower. This issue I have is I bought a new PTO shaft but both ends have the 1 3/8 x 6 spline on it and the mower where the gear box is has a coupler attachment with a sheer pin in it. I took it off and that is when I found out it didn't have the 6 spline to slide the new shaft on. What do I need to do? can you buy a shaft that has the 6 spline quick connect on one end (tractor end) and a coupler with sheer pin connection already on the gear box end. Or could someone just swap out the u-joint that has that connection for the gear box end? please help, I need to do some tractor work tomorrow and the weekend.

thanks,
Marc

You can do it either way. You can buy a U-joint part that has the shear bolt set up or take that shaft back and get he correct one

They make PTO shaft with many different type ends on them to fit different machines. There is a good number of different size hook ups and square ones and splined ones etc etc.

You don"t need to swap out the whole u-joint...just the yoke that goes on the machine. You can buy whatever yoke you need at mchy dealers, welding shops, etc. You need a yoke that matches the machine, and the cross kit that"s in the u-joint.
