39 h magneto rebuild

I rebuilt my Magneto. Replaced points and gapped the points. Made new cables. I kept the magneto from turning while I rebuilt it as to not mess with the timing. After I was done she started right up. Also replaced plugs. Here's some before and after's.

So you did a tune up? that's great. If it were
mine I would shorten up the coil and plug wires so
they don't rub any part of the engine. If not that
can cause problems in a year or so when the spark
starts jumping to the engine block rather than to
the plugs.

wouldnt matter if you did turn it , it only goes together one way , except for the rotor gears & they have timming marks

Those old IH mags are pretty tough.

If you want to remove the mag. Remove the cap and note where the rotor is
pointing. When you are ready to put the mag back on. Just point the rotor to
the same position where it was before you removed it. As long as you don't
turn the engine over. The mag will be timed right.

correct i pull them a lot of times to service and like you said rotor same place when putting back you just cant go wrong.
