My tractor has a squeal between the gearshift and the back of the battery. I do not have a clue. Anyone heard of this? Tractor sitting in heated garage but not started for couple of weeks. It did not do this when last used :?:

That said what happens if you push the clutch pedal down?? If it stops then you have something in the transmission that maybe going bad like a bearing. If it does not stop could be your clutch is not adjusted with enough free play and the throw out bearing is spinning all the time and is starting to go bad. And or the starter is not disengaging form the flywheel

Thank you, obviously I am not a mechanic. After I chased the vibration with my hand I located the noise. It is coming from the guage on the right side of the shifter.I loosened the nut behind the guage and there is a cable inside that tube. That is making the noise. But I still do not know why it is squealing. It does sound like a stuck bearing. Thanks again.

A squeal can also be a fan belt that is to loose or a water pump going bad etc up front

That's the drive cable for the tachometer. Just
take the nut loose from the back of the tach, pull
the cable out of the housing, clean it up with
some solvent, coat it with light oil. They do that
when they get dry and cold. Nothing serious.

Thank you , took the nut loose and the squeal stopped. Gave it a couple squirts of silicone lube and Complete success. This was my dad's tractor until he passed away. I want to keep it working like it should. And I appreciate your help. Thank you.
