8N won't start

8N won't start; been trying several things: starter fluid at air intake of carb, checked spark w/a commercial tester (yellow flash at 3 plugs; should it be bright blue?), batt charged.
All I've gotten is a sputter; would think that with a spark and ether I ought to at least get her to catch for a second or two?
Your advice, please.

That yellow spark indicates weak spark. Check your points and distributor cap before you get into anything else. Just my thoughts, Keith

Front mount or side mount distributor?? 6 or 12 volts both those can make a difference as to how to fix.
Spark needs to be a blue/white and jump a 1/4 inch gap or more at all 4 plug wires. Take an old plug and gap it as close to a 1/4 inch as you can and use it to test spark.
Point gap on the front mount is 0.015 and side mount 0.025 and if you have it wrong that can be the problem
