JD 4430 3 point lift

I have a 1974 model 4430 in which I just replaced the load control shaft, bushings and seals. At the same time, I put a seal kit in both scv's. Before the work I did, 3 point lift worked fine. After the work, no leaks and lift worked great. Took it home and went to pick up a roll of hay and it would barely clear the ground. Pulled out of the roll and it picks the fork up fine. Adjusted the draft lever back and forth but it will not pick a roll of hay up over a foot off the ground. Have I done something wrong or do I need to adjust something?

The load shaft passes through a "fork" that operates the "load" (draft) mechanism. This has not happened to me, but I understand it is possible to insert the pin with the fork to the front or back of the pin (rather than through it).

I'm GUESSING that's what has happened to yours.

There is a protocol to make sure the draft control lever is in (IIRC) "Depth" position before removing the long pin.

I'm not sure what you will have to do to get the fork to move back centered around the pin... perhaps pull the pin again, and then move the lever to "Depth" position and re-insert the pin?

Re-post lower down on the page at the DEERE-specific Board. There a several GURUS there that deeper into that area of the green ones than I do.

Thanks, Bob! I thought it might be something like that. I'm going to pull the shaft in the morning and check that out. I'll repost if that was it.

You can't miss the fork with the shaft as it doesn't move far enough. What happens is if not in 'depth' position, the roller on the valve linkage slips off of the top of the load sensing arm. The fix is to remove the rockshaft valve and reinstall with the roller properly positioned
