where do we start

I have a multi generation collection.
From horse drawn to H's and M's.
Also older 151 combines.
The junk man wants to buy for
A song.
Several people have told me visiting
And walking around is like going
Back to their childhood. They say
None of this is around.
Maybe due to insurance companies. We
Carried farm bureau for at least 40 years. Very few loses. They have a young kid called a farm specialist, had a fit, "too much junk" and cancelled insurance.
I am not Santa, and just don't want to give
Things away. I would like to restore but if
You fix stuck engine, etc, you would have
More in it than one thatalready runs.
Please do not say museum. Had a friend
That donated items,a year later they were
Selling the items, he bought them back.
Wish there was a fair market value listing
For old stuff.

What would the insurance guy say if it was all pulled out and lined up somewhere clean,in an orderly manner, then the grass was kept reasonably neat around it?

Where are you located. A local multi line insurance agency is eating farm bureaus lunch on AG and farm insurance here.FB had just gotten too comfortable around here in West Ky and was taking the farm business for granted

Good idea Randy, but "that" insurance guy wouldn't be welcome on my place again. A new agent might like the orderly lineup though.

We had F B Ins. until they lied to us about coverage, no loss involved. They were history fast! Have better coverage for less now from a company that is into covering stuff we and you have. They understand " old " things. They are based in Mich. clint

They're all getting pretty fussy. I'm with a small company called Fremont Mutual. They send an inspector every three years or so. They're not over the top unrealistic about it. They know it's a working farm, but they told me one time,"You know what clean is,just use some common sense.".
The tillage equipment and a few odds and ends that I don't have room for inside, sit in a pasture so the cattle keep things cleaned up around them. The parts junk is in the edge of a wooded swamp, also in a pasture. They don't say anything about any of that stuff. They just want things neat and tidy around the buildings. Liability and fire I think are their concerns.

Randy is right. Their main concern is someone walking around through tall grass, trying on a piece of wire and falling into a mower and taking an eye out. You know that you really have to agree that the danger is there. So Clean it up and call a different company.

sad to watch stuff going to the junker - just another opportunity lost. i would enjoy starting a collection but love doesn't equal money.

i can appreciate the old stuff but can't afford to act on my appreciation

I THOUGHT it was still illegal for
For people to come on my property
and snoop around

Also I THOUGHT it was common knowage
That you don't go thru high grass, on
someone's ground you don't know.

I'm sorry. I've given them thousands of
Dollars, no losses, where the stuff is
Located is 1/4 mile from any road.

Now since one company drops, nobody
will take. Insurance commissioner is
Worthless. The state high risk insurance
pool does not accept rural property, and
We are a rural state.
Not an isolated case I've talked to over
A dozen people its happened to, and
Several different co.
