I bought a 1940 Farmall H on craigslist and I noticed the steering was slipping. I took it apart & saw the keyway or woodruff key is missing on the worm shaft that connects behind the gauges to the steering wheel. Does anyone know if that is a woodruff key or a keyway key. Where do I get schematics for this. Thanks Trent

Type in Messicks and use the site, its faster and better to use that others-- you will get parts breakdown, part number and part price all on one page

On a 1940 it would be a woodruff key. Don't know the dimensions off hand.

See if you guys can find the dimensions of that woodruff. I don't understand why this information isn't available!!! Rex, Messicks won't upload the schematic I need, but that is exactly what I'm looking for. Anymore suggestions?

Actually, I think I was wrong. It is NOT a woodruff key. It is more of a thick, heavy washer. If I am looking at the correct part in my parts catalog, it is 41116D. The catalog does not give the dimensions.

I am looking at a copy of an original Farmall H parts manual. The part would most likely be available only from an IH dealer, but most likely is obsolete and no longer available. Maybe someone has a used one?

It is a woodruff key, and it can fall out if you pull back on the steering wheel and do not have the shaft clamps on the pedestal tight. That happened to me, would be real bad if moving.
